Vineyards and wine tastings may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Plettenberg Bay. But since the first vines were planted by Bramon Wine Estate in 2000, the region has developed into an enviable Wine of Origin region producing award-winning wines and sparkling wines; it’s known as a bit of a “bubbly region”.

For those that know Plettenberg Bay as a summer destination, where the wealthy meet up at the polo, on the beach or out on the town, this makes much more sense: sipping chilled bubbly with views across the Indian Ocean, it’s so very Plett! And those two wonderful Plett things: sparkling wine and ocean views come together for one perfect weekend: the annual Plett Wine and Bubbly Festival.

Now in its fourth year, the Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival will take place on 25th & 26th November on Plett’s Central Beach. Nine of Plett’s wine estates will serve more than 30 local wines and MCC’s, along with fantastic food and great music. Upscale, entertaining, educational, with a touch of class; this is a weekend not to miss.

Plett-Wine-Festival

The festival started in 2014 as a showcase for the emerging Plett Winelands and has grown into a popular event on the Plett calendar, with over 1600 guests over the two-day festival in 2016. The estate owners and staff will be on hand, to guide wine-lovers through their different cultivars paired with artisan cheeses, charcuterie, breads, savouries and oysters. Headlining the festival are folk musician Charlie Finch and popular Gerald Clark, along with local musicians and DJs – it is a festival, after all!
