Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre at Plettenberg Bay offers a truly unique Wildcat Experience. Guests are taken on a guided tour to meet captive-bred furry felines, living in a semi-natural environment. So close, you can hear them purr… At Tenikwa you are guaranteed to see the charismatic Cheetah, ZweLakhe the Leopard and enjoy a cat and mouse game with South Africa’s seldom seen Lesser indigenous cats, such as the African Wild Cat, Servals, Caracal and the rare Black-Footed Cat. Experience the inquisitiveness of the busy Meerkats, watch the Blue Cranes dance and take pleasure in getting to know the mischievous Marabou Storks. The centre is open daily from 9am. Tours depart every half an hour with the last tour departing at 16h30. It is advisable to wear long trousers and closed shoes.

Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre is a registered Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre that accepts wildlife from all over the Bitou area, getting them back on their feet as soon as possible and releasing them back into the wild. The centre is privately funded, and your support goes a long way to ensuring these traumatized animals have the best care for the duration of their stay at Tenikwa. In accordance with Cape Nature Conservation, no wild animals under rehabilitation are shown to the public.
    RATES:
  • The 1 hour guided Wild Cat Experience Tour : R150 for adults, R70 for scholars (6-18 years), No charge for under 6 years of age.
  • The Tenikwa Sunrise Cheetah Walk followed by the Wild Cat Experience : R350 per person. (Children must be over 12 or 1.3m tall to do the cheetah walk)
  • Cheetah Walk & Wild Cat Experience: R400 per adult
